AVA, Mo. — Douglas County Coats for Kids is teeing off a new fundraising tradition with its first-ever Coats for Kids Golf Tournament, set for Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Ava Country Club.
The organization, founded in 2009 by Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, has long supported local students in need by providing warm winter coats. Over the past 17 years, the program has distributed more than 1,700 coats in cooperation with the local school district.
The upcoming golf tournament marks a new chapter in the group’s fundraising efforts, which have previously included softball tournaments, cornhole competitions, and 5K runs.
The tournament will follow a two-man scramble format, with tee times scheduled for 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The entry fee is $100 per team. Lunch will be available, but only through donations.
Organizers are currently seeking players, as well as hole and lunch sponsors. For registration or sponsorship information, contact Chris Degase at 417-250-2320 (option 9), Teri Ogden at 417-250-2320 (option 3), or Taylor Wallace at 417-543-4320.
