ST. CHARLES, Mo. – As preseason camp winds down, Mizzou Football traveled to St. Charles this weekend to simulate a road trip, finishing with Saturday’s scrimmage at Hunter Stadium on the campus of Lindenwood University.
“I wanted to see where we were at,” Tigers coach Eliah Drinkwitz said after the scrimmage. “I wanted to see from a mentality standpoint, you know, would we start fast? Did we have the right mindset? Did we come out ready to play? In a road game, you can’t ease into it. You look at our poor performances last year, three of them on the road. We were really, really slow, and that can’t happen. We have to start fast, and that’s something that you can learn now and apply it instead of having to learn after you go on the road. They knew I was I was disappointed with that slow start.”
Following the practice, Drinkwitz announced the nine players who were voted 2025 captains by their teammates: quarterbacks Sam Horn and Beau Pribula, offensive linemen Cayden Green and Connor Tollison, defensive end Zion Young, linebacker Khalil Jacobs, safeties Daylan Carnell and Jalen Catalon and wide receiver Logan Muckey as the special teams representative.
“I’ve never had that many (captains), but it’s one of those things where I knew this class had strong leadership and guys believed in them,” Drinkwitz said. “So excited about that.”
The Tigers begin the 2025 season on Thursday, Aug. 28, when they host Central Arkansas in the “Kickoff in CoMo” season opener at Memorial Stadium.
