West Plains, Mo. – The Fourth Annual West Plains Folds of Honor Golf Tournament was held on June 20, 2025, at the West Plains Country Club in tandem with an online auction hosted by Sexton Auctioneers. A new milestone was reached by raising $32,000, the highest total in the event’s history since its inception in 2022. This record-breaking support brings the four-year fundraising total to $117,000, all of which directly funds educational scholarships for the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military veterans and America’s first responders. This year’s tournament introduced a new format which transitioned from a three-person scramble to a four-person scramble. This proved to be a major success, selling out with 22 teams. The day concluded with a lively post-tournament reception that featured refreshments and live music that extended the fundraising potential and welcomed non-golfers to participate.
Since its inception in 2022, the West Plains Folds of Honor Golf Tournament has been dedicated to supporting Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military and first responders. Since 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded approximately 62,000 educational scholarships, totaling more than $290 million in educational impact. According to the 2024–25 Folds of Honor Impact Data, 267 scholarships were awarded to Missouri recipients, totaling $1,258,368 in support. This marks a record-breaking year for the organization; however, despite this milestone, 149 qualified Missouri applicants were unable to receive scholarships due to limited funding. The West Plains Folds of Honor Golf Tournament’s mission is to help close this gap and expand access to life-changing educational opportunities. “After three successful years, we felt it was time to refresh certain aspects of the tournament, including the team format and capacity,” said David M. Gohn, Tournament Co-Chair. “Shifting to a four-person scramble and limiting the tournament to 22 teams was a bit of a gamble, but it absolutely paid off, as the tournament sold out, and the energy throughout the day was undeniable. We were excited to introduce a post-tournament reception that featured live music from Brother Paint. This new addition offered non-golfers a chance to join the celebration and support the Folds of Honor mission and made the event more inclusive and impactful than ever before.”
All tournament organizers, David M. Gohn, Greg Beykirch and Dave Thomas, shared their gratitude in a joint statement, “We are humbled by the support extended to Folds of Honor within our area and look forward to continuing this tradition of giving back to those who have given so much. We offer sincere thanks to all our tournament sponsors, players and auction bidders.”
