The Zizzer Track and Field Team had a great showing at Monday’s inaugural Ozark Mountain Conference Track and Field Championships at JFK-Springfield, MO. The Zizzer Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys teams brought home 1st place, and the Lady Zizzer team took 4th place. Standouts from the day included Jaxon Hunter (junior at WPHS). Jaxon threw two big marks today and set the new High School Boys Shot and High School Boys Discus records. Jaxon Hunter: shot put 55’1″Jaxon Hunter: discus 168’2″.

June 14th and 15th the Willow Springs Lions Club will host a two-man scramble at the Willow Springs Thomas F. Benyo Municipal Golf Course.  This tournament will feature tee times of 8:30 and 1:30 and will pay out four places in each flight, number of flights to be determined by number of entries.  Call Robert Hollis at Shelter Insurance 417-469-2881 to sign up your team today, $180 per team is the entry fee.

 

 

Great pitching and defense led the West Plains Zizzers to a 1-0 victory over Hillcrest. Landon Montgomery tossed a No Hitter only allowing one baserunner through 7 innings. Montgomery also scored the Zizzers only run in the first inning. A sac fly in the first by Avery Miller scored the lone run of the ball game. Improving the Zizzers record to 12-12.

Ozarks Healthcare is partnering with local schools this spring to provide free sports, physicals during school hours, making it easy for students of all ages to get cleared for sports and activities.  Schools will distribute physical forms for parents to complete and return on the scheduled day. Families should contact their school office or nurse for more information and to obtain a form. Incoming 7th–12th graders attending any West Plains High School summer camps are required to have a current physical on file.

 

Liberty Eagle football camp for grades k through 8th, May 13th to the 15th 5pm to 630pm. Each Camper will receive T-shirt and game pass to the first home game. Parents forms have been sent from school to be filled out and returned.

 

Weather permitting the Liberty Eagle baseball team will host the Willow Springs Bears today varsity only first pitch at 3pm on The Fox 969.
