Garylee has sports with new record set for the Zizzers

The West Plains R-VII School District is pleased to announce Christy Otter has been named the West Plains High School girls’ head basketball coach. To help build relationships with her athletes, Otter will begin open gyms, summer contact days, and basketball camps before she officially begins her position on July 1, 2024.  Otter is the administrator of Otter Basketball, a basketball training company she co-owns with her husband, Jason. She also served as the Glendale assistant varsity and head girls’ junior varsity basketball coach from 2004 to 2010 and coached 8th grade students at Pershing Middle School during the same time period. There will be a meet and greet coach Otter on Wed April 24th at West Plains High School Library.

Congratulations to Senior Andrew Jacobs for breaking the school record in the triple jump! Andrew’s jump of 46’6” surpassed Alumni Josh Leazer who is currently jumping at Evangel University in Springfield!

 

The St. Louis Blues picked up a point during their final 2023-24 season game. The Blues lost to the Dallas Stars 2-1 in a shootout in the season finale. Robert Thomas scored the only goal of the game for the Blues in the second period, but Dallas tied the game in the third to set up the victory in the shootout. St. Louis ended the season in fifth place in the Central Division with 92 points and a 43-33-and-6 record.
