A 28-year-old golfer was struck by lightning on the 15th hole at Ballyowen Golf Course in Hardyston, New Jersey, just before 2 p.m.
Witnesses say they’d seen lightning in the distance for about 30 minutes before the strike. After the hit, the golfer was rushed by ambulance—his condition was unknown.
The course had no prior warning horns. Players only heard alerts once they returned to the clubhouse, after local police arrived.
A spokesperson for Crystal Springs Resort (which owns Ballyowen) confirmed the incident, emphasized guest safety, and noted staff did sound horns to clear the course once the storm appeared.
