- LOUIS – Missouri State softball standouts Erin Griesbauer (Blue Springs, Mo.) and Hannah Heinrichs (Broken Arrow, Okla.) were honored by the Missouri Valley Conference today, both earning spots on the annual MVC Softball Scholar-Athlete Team.
Heinrichs, a fifth-year senior outfielder, joins the Valley’s academic team for the second time in her career after previously being named to the team in 2018. She earned honorable mention distinction this year with a 3.98 grade-point average in Middle School Education. Heinrichs started all 19 games in the abbreviated 2020 season and shared the team lead in stolen bases.
In addition to being a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete Team selection, Heinrichs also has earned MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award honors and MVC Honor Roll distinction four times. She was also named as an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete in 2016, 2017 and 2019. Heinrichs earned MVC Scholar-Athlete Spotlight laurels on May 15, 2019.
Griesbauer is a senior pitcher who made the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team for the third straight season and second year as an honorable mention selection. She has a 3.98 grade-point average in Exercise & Movement Science and made nine appearances in the circle this season, striking out 11 hitters in 28.0 innings of work.
The right-hander accumulated 18 wins in her MSU career and was named to the MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award list in 2018, the MVC Honor Roll the last three seasons and the NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete listing in each of her three previous campaigns with the Bears. Griesbauer also was named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on April 11, 2018.
Drake’s Mandi Roemmich highlighted a list of 12 players from around the league on the first team. She was named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Griesbauer and Heinrichs were joined by 11 other Missouri Valley standouts on the honorable mention squad.
