The Missouri State West Plains Grizzlies were at it again on Wedensday Night. Continuing to try to finally win a Reigon 16 Game.
To no avail Grizzlies were outscored primarily by two Post men for Moberly, Caleb Estes and Shaunessy Hackett. Moberly winning the matchup by a Final of 102-80
1st Half: Tip controlled by The Moberly Greyhounds as they try for a shot early but it put out of bounds by #1, Tyrell Smith for the Grizzlies. Ball goes out of bounds and a foul on The Grizzlies, first point shot at the free throw line by #12, Shaunessy Hackett. Hackett keeps the ball on the rebound and gets off another two. Greyhounds on board early with a 4-0 lead.
A steal finally by #11, Makai Lindsey. Twenty three foot pull up is no good and almost loses it but stolen again by Lindsey as Moberly will receive a holding call. #24, Dassiah Green tries a really good shot but doesn’t fall. Greyhounds still holding onto a 8-0 lead after a bucket by #4, Josh Lowe.
Finally the first three pointer by #4, Ace Evans, so far the leading point man for The Grizzlies early in region play. Lowe for Moberly tries another two but out of bounds and another three by #4, Ace Evans for the Grizzlies.
Grizzlies trying to drive as Makai Lindsey makes another two. Rebound by #2, Lavonta Ivory for the Greyhounds who slams in a three, now 12-8 Greyhounds.
Missed shot from 25 feet by #4, Lowe for the Greyhounds. Shot off the glass good after a timeout is good again by #1, Tyrell Smith. 16-12, Greyhounds with 11:09 to go.
Two more threes; another by Ace Evans and the first by #24, Dassiah Green cuts the trail to one as things begin to even out. Grizzlies being much more even. A tie game as Makai Lindsey makes a free throw as now Greyhounds have walked into some deep foul travel.
A brief one point lead with another two pointer by Tyrell Smith. But after a timeout, two three pointers by #22, Caleb Estes. Rebound Grizzlies and a missed three by #5 Shaun Glass. Taken back and yet another three by Estes as the Greyhounds come back up by five, 35-31.
Another three by Ivory for the Greyhounds, By #2, Ivery. Grizzlies struggling now to guard three of the Greyhounds post men; Ivery, Estes, and Lowe.
Greyhounds have nowe oustcored Grizzlies by thirteen, the strongest lead as # 4, Josh Lowe shoots another three. Rebound and continued pressure by the Greyhounds who fail again. This sends #5, Shaun Glass two the line, making two free throws. Greyhounds continue to lead 46-33.
Grizzlies are getting a chance to shoot a few extra free throws as Greyhounds continue to flirt with foul trouble. Another free throw on the next Grizzly foul by #1, Jayden Banks. Greyhounds hold up by ten, 48-38 with about a minute to go,
Another three by Lowe and this takes us to the half with;
The Greyhounds leading The Grizzlies, 53-38.
2nd Half: Grizzlies have the basketball to start the second half. Makai Lindsey throws the ball inbound for the Grizzlies and makes the first shot right on the rim. Rebound by Banks for the Greyhounds and passes to Ivery who puts in a layup, not guarded at all by The Grizzlies.
Grizzlies try several three attempts all off the mark. Ball will stay with The Moberly Greyhounds.
Lowe goes back to the Greyhounds as Grizzlies make their first team foul. Greyhounds now by twenty 64-54.
A foul on the rebound for the Greyhounds. Makai Lindsey shoots 1-2.
The Grizzlies hardly rebounding the Greyhounds at all.
Ace Evans goes back to the line on another Greyhound foul. Making once again 1-2.
The next Moberly possession comes with a lot of energy as Lowe takes a pass and puts the ball up and in for two off the hands of #11, Dalton Hicks. Hicks shoots two on the next foul for the Grizzlies.
Another three by Ivery is good as Grizzlies are still not cashing in on the offensive rebounds. 75-49, Greyhounds with 13:05 to go.
Ace Evans with another baseline jumper with under 12 minutes to go as he continues really to be the only man chasing down the ball for the Grizzlies.
With about five minutes left in the game, pressure slows down a bit from the Greyhounds as their bench begins to empty. Grizzlies are trying in this spell to get another three at least. #5, Shaun Glass gets a rebound, a foul, and a chance to complete a three point play.
But a Grizzly foul, and #22, Caleb Estes shoots two more as Greyounds lead by 20, 94-74.
Foul by the Greyhounds on the rebound and #15, Javon Barbee goes to the line making two. But a shot on the rebound by Lowe, Greyhounds still lead by twenty.
Barbee gets off another layup shot but another foul as Greyhounds shoot out the last minute or so at the free throw line.
