WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The 27th annual Grizzly Golf Classic, presented by Southern Bank, will take place Oct. 10 at the West Plains Country Club.
The tournament, hosted by the Grizzly Booster Club, will be a three-person scramble benefitting the Bo Pace Memorial Scholarship and Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Athletics operations.
“For nearly 30 years, our community has shown up to support Grizzly Athletics and enjoy a fun day at the West Plains Country Club. We’re excited for this year’s Grizzly Golf Classic and appreciate the support of Southern Bank and all the other sponsors who make this event possible,” said Rachel Peterson, director of development and annual giving at MSU-WP.
“Southern Bank is proud of our association with MSU-WP – it’s staff, students and their indelible stamp on our community,” said Southern Bank President Zack McNett. “This marks the sixth consecutive year that we’ve sponsored the Grizzly Golf Tournament, and we look forward to continuing this association in an effort to support our local institution of higher learning.”
Check-in for the tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. Participants will tee off at noon.
Golfers are welcome to practice their swings at the driving range with range balls prior to the event’s start time.
Lunch and premium Grizzly prizes will be provided to all participants. Special prizes will be awarded to flight winners.

Teams are encouraged to provide their own golf carts. Those needing to rent a cart should submit their cart reservation with their tournament registration and pay a $40 cart rental fee by Sept. 19.
“This will be my first Grizzly Golf Tournament and I’m really looking forward to the event and meeting all of the participants,” Grizzly Athletic Director Rusty Laverentz said. “The tournament is a big event for the athletic department. It helps with scholarships and other department needs.”
