The coaching staff of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Softball team will host a skills camp Sept. 22-24 at the West Plains Parks and Recreation Department softball fields adjacent to the high school parking lot.
The camp will showcase defensive drills, pitching fundamentals, base running, infield and outfield skills and hitting fundamentals, according to Grizzly Softball Head Coach Don Long.
The camp is open to first through 12th grade students.
First through fourth graders will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Sept. 24.
Fifth through eighth grade students will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23 and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 24.
Ninth through 12th grade students will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23 and 10:30 to 12:30 a.m. Sept. 24.
“We’re excited to offer another Grizzly Softball camp opportunity for the youth in the West Plains and surrounding area,” Long said. “We’re looking forward to showcasing our Grizzly Softball athletes, who will be volunteers at the camp. We welcome all softball athletes to our camp.”
Pre-registration is required. Those who register by Sept. 19 will pay a discounted $75 camp fee. Those who register after Sept. 19 will be charged the full $100 camp fee.
