AUSTIN, Texas – Missouri State men’s soccer standouts Kyle Hiebert (La Salle, Manitoba) and Michael Creek (St. Louis, Mo.) were announced Monday to the Division I Men’s Soccer Academic All-America® team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
In addition, Hiebert earned the prestigious honor as CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year while becoming Missouri State’s first-ever four-time Academic All-America® student-athlete in any sport. Hiebert was a third-team selection in 2017 and has been named to the Academic All-America® first-team the past three seasons.
Hiebert was recently named as the United Soccer Coaches Division I Men’s National Scholar Player of the Year as well after earning Scholar All-America honors for the third time. His season accolades also include United Soccer Coaches All-America first team, Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, All-MVC first team, MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist. He carries a 4.0 GPA in Accounting and started all 14 matches of the 2020-21 campaign for the Bears, which extended his streak to 68 consecutive starts in the backline and helped MSU to post six shutouts on the year en route to a NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 run.
He is the third MSU student-athlete to be chosen as Academic All-America® Player of the Year for their sport, joining volleyball’s Lily Johnson (2017) and women basketball’s Lisa Davies (1998).
Creek was named as an Academic All-America® second-team selection, marking his third straight CoSIDA Academic All-America® distinction after earning third-team honors in 2018 and first-team distinction in 2019.
The senior goal keeper tallied six clean sheets to increase his career total to 19 shutouts which ranks fifth on the program’s all-time list. The Business Administration major boasts a 3.98 GPA and recently earned his second straight scholar all-region honor.
Creek made all 14 starts this season for the Bears and logged 1257:59 minutes in goal for the while registering a league-best 0.715 goals-against average. Creek was an All-MVC second-team selection and joined Hiebert on the MVC Scholar-Athlete first team.
