The West Plains Lady Zizzers played their home opener tonight versus the Nixa Lady Eagles. These two teams with quite the history, playing at least thirteen times over the past five seasons. Many of these being district or conference related.
Tonight Nixa gets a win for the sixth time in a row by Final of 61-54
1st Quarter: Shaylee Peterson controls the tip for the Zizzers as she passes to Sophomore guard Gillian Green for two which is good. Rebound Jordan Phillips for the Nixa Lady Eagles who makes her first two pointer but a foul call on the play and Green makes two more and completes a three point play at the line. It will be a 5-4 game.
A turnover by Nixa with about 6:47 to go, Shaylee Peterson tries a long pass but a jump ball call and the ball will go back to The Nixa Lady Eagles.
Senior Lucy Hazer will try a long three but it falls short, Cora Cubic will go on a run to send the Nixa Lady Eagles up by one.
Finally a stop as a foul is called on Jordan Phillips for Nixa. This gives into a few more turnovers by both teams as The Lady Zizzers have now moved into a full court press.
Another foul on The Lady Zizzers and this will send Taylor Woods to the Line as Nixa has now made the game 13-7 as Cubic scores her seventh point of the night. A putback by Delanni Whahome for West Plains, but lost out of bounds on the rebound and now Taylor Woods will score another three to send Nixa up 16-9.

Nixa leads 18-9 at the end of one.
2nd Quarter: Bryant with a three to start the quarter. And finally a stop as Peterson passes out to Gillian for a three for the Lady Zizzers. She goes coast to ghost and now a two, 21-14 the score now in the ballgame as they are trying to cut this game back down.
A foul call on Kati Bryant for Nixa and now Green goes back to the line for the Zizzers Ainsley Mcwilliams travels to the line for the Zizzers, she makes 1-2.
Five point ballgame, 20-15.
Rebound Cora Cubic for the Nixa Lady Eagles as she puts back an Easy layup, A loss on the rebound and ball goes back to The Lady Zizzers.
A three by Mcwilliams and now the West Plains will trail by four, 22-18.
Lady Zizzers continue to try for another three underneath the intense full court pressure by Nixa. However, Nixa has received a few foul calls on blocking so far here in the second quarter.
Mcwilliams finally gets her next three as the lead is now cut to one 22-21 with 3:21 to go.
Taylor Woods dominates the ball for the Eagles. It takes two tries but finally a jumper is good to send Nixa up by four, 24-21.
Peterson answers back with a small littl layup shot, but Cubic continues to get the lead and gets the last shot.
HALFTIME- Nixa Lady Eagles: 26/ West Plains Lady Zizzers: 23
3rd Quarter: Gillian Green gets a quick jumper for the Lady Zizzers but stolen by Taylor Woods for Nixa who shoots and answers back, now a 28-25 game.
Finally a steal and Green gets a baseline jumper plus two threes and West Plains takes the lead back by one. Passes to Peterson for three more and now they have it by three with under Six minutes to go in the Third.
Ball goes back to Woods for Nixa who fights under the man to man pressure and scores. Stolen and three more to bring it to a four point lead by Shaylee Peterson for the Lady Zizzers. Cut to two as Gwen Cubic scores and trips Peterson in the process as the turnover is forced.
Woods gets to free throws on the next foul and the game is tied at 34 with under 3 minutes to go
Free throw shooting for the Lady Zizzers fall shorts as Gillian Green tries for two on the next foul and goes 0-2. Stolen by Gwen Cubic for two and it is now 36-34.
Ainsley Mcwilliams is fouled and goes to the line for the next foul on Woods, she makes 1. Next offensive possession for Nixa stolen by Senior Zoe Sharnhorst who passes to Mcwilliams. Lady Zizzers now go back up by three and will complete the play at the line. So far Mcwilliams is 4-6 on the line, she makes the 1-1 to make the game 38-36, up by two.
Last shot of the Third Quarter tried by Zizzers fall short. 38-37 at the end of one.
4th Quarter: An early run by Taylor Woods for Nixa as the lead is increased to three. But a three is good by Green for The Lady Zizzers and the Game is tied and a free throw ties the game up at 43 points.
Shaylee Peterson sends the game up by two, rebound by Woods for the Eagles and blocked but easy shot and tied back to 45. McWilliams tries for a three on the rebound by The Lady Zizzers. Jumper is up and good by Gillian Green as the ball gets taken back, Lady Zizzers are holding The Lady Eagles to two points here in the last bit of the Second half.
Passed to Zoe Sharnhorst who gives to Shaylee Peterson and a good three makes it a five point game 49-45 with 3:30 to go in the ballgame.
Jordan Phllips narrows the game to one with a good three. But a foul on Cora Cubic for the Lady Eagles and Shaylee Peterson shoots 1-2 at the line two hold the game to two.
What should be a personal foul call is made on The Zizzers and Taylor Woods shoots two from the line to tie it at 50.
Green and Woods and the game goes back and forth between a tie and a two point game. 1:30 to go and Lady Zizzers lead the game by one. Back to a three point game by Taylor Woods, Lady Zizzer defense trying hard to get a three or a stop.
Woods scores the next few points and sets the lead up by twelve more as well as an additional two pointer by Phillips.
Nixa gets the win by a Final of 61-54
