Liberty Eagles come out of their Christmas Break and back into the season with another win, taking them to a 7-2 record as they defeat the Alton Comets, 72-58
1st Quarter: Liberty Eagles control the tip and shot in for three to get on the board first by Alex Tune. Rebound by The Alton Comets and the first shot is up and good by Kaden Willard. Comets try to drive with the ball but make their first turnover as Tune puts the ball back up and in for three as the Eagles lead by one, 5-4.
The first set of free throws shot by Carter Ellett who makes 1-4 at the line. Eagles will keep the ball on the rebound and another bounces pass from Cooper Holden for The Eagles back to Ellett. Also a two pointer by Draydon Wells as Eagles flirt with a ten point lead with under 2:15 to go in the Quarter.
Draydon Wells two more on the Alton end as Alton now has wracked up quite a set of turnovers as they trail 1:19 to go.
At the end of 1, Eagles hold at a 17-11 lead.
2nd Quarter: Eagles jump out to as many as eight, continuing to force turnovers from the Comets. Kaden Willard, doing the majority of steals for the Eagles. Parker Tune, doing takeaways for The Eagles as Tune and Draydon Wells both get multiple shots of the right wing. Parker Tune with a three point play after nearly being stole back.
This secures a 32-23 lead for the Eagles at halftime.
3rd Quarter: Alex Tune starts of scoring once again in the second half for the Liberty Eagles. Ball rebounded by Korbin Tharp for the Alton Comets who puts the ball back up and in for two, answering back and gets to go the line as the Eagles pick up another team foul.
However, Comets also have a few fouls as Paxton Hunter goes to the line to shoot two. Eagles lead by twelve 37-29 with under five minutes to go in the ballgame.
Hunter continues to have a lot of luck making spin moves up and in to the basket as he shoots his second in the second half so far.
Parker Tune with two more from the line as The Alton Comets have not done much to dig themselves out of foul trouble or turnovers.
Eagles hold on to a 54-40 lead at the end of one.
Eagles with 22, Comets with 19 so far in the second half.
4th Quarter: Comets come to within ten points of the Eagles as Guards Jarren Holesapple & Jacob Ruddy get cut into the lead on some easy wide open lay in shots. But Parker Tune & Draydon Wells continue to outrebound and steal for the Eagles.

Eagles will travel to Pleasant Hope to play their first game in The Pleasant Hope Invitational Tournament. That game will air @ 4PM next Tuesday on 96.9 The Fox.
