The Royals failed to sweep the Mariners. Kansas City lost to Seattle 6-5 in a 10-inning contest at Kauffman Stadium. MJ Melendez and Hunter Renfroe each homered and finished with two RBIs in the setback. James McArthur was charged with the loss and fell to 2-and-3 after allowing three runs in the top of the 10th. The Royals had a three-game winning streak snapped and they currently sit second in the AL Central at 39-and-27. They remain home to host the New York Yankees tonight. Right-hander Seth Lugo will start opposite New York southpaw Carlos Rodon.
