The New York Mets greed to acquire two-time All-Star pitcher Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up two of their best prospects — shortstop/outfielder Jett Williams and pitching prospect Brandon Sproat — in exchange. Along with Peralta, right-hander Tobias Myers also headed to New York in the deal.

Peralta pitched brilliantly last season with a 2.70 ERA, 204 strikeouts and 17 wins, and is expected to become the Mets’ new top starter as they build toward a playoff push in 2026. Myers gives the staff added depth with his versatility as a starter and reliever.

The New York Yankees agreed to a five-year, $162.5 million contract with outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger will receive a $20 million signing bonus as part of the agreement, which does not include deferrals.

Bellinger hit .272 with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs over 152 appearances last season for the Yankees. The two-time All-Star, who joined New York in a 2024 trade from the Chicago Cubs, has a career .261 batting average. He totaled 225 home runs over his first nine seasons.
