MLB Playoffs

The Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 3–1 in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series, clinching the series 2–1 and advancing to the NL Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. 

It is the Cubs’ first playoff series win since 2017. Next, they’ll play the Brewers in the Division Series starting Saturday.

Dillon Dingler homered, lead the Detroit Tigers to a 6–3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, clinching the AL Wild Card Series 2–1. 

In his hometown of Cleveland, Dingler hit a go-ahead solo home run in the sixth inning and threw out José Ramírez attempting to steal second base. Wenceel Pérez added two RBIs in a decisive four-run seventh inning.

Detroit advances to the AL Division Series against the Seattle Mariners, starting Saturday.

 

The New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 4–0 in Game 3 of the AL Wild Card Series on October 2, 2025, winning the series 2–1.

Rookie pitcher Cam Schlittler dominated, striking out 12 over eight innings with no walks and six pitches over 100 mph. The Yankees scored four runs in the fourth after Red Sox defensive mistakes.

This win sends the Yankees to the Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
