The Las Vegas Raiders fired head coach Pete Carroll after his first season.
Carroll’s Raiders went 3-14, which tied for the worst record in the NFL. The 2025-26 Raiders scored the fewest points and totaled the fewest yards in the league.
Carroll was the oldest active head coach in the league.
The Raiders signed Carroll to a three-year deal in January, and will hire their sixth head coach since 2021.
Carroll, who previously coached the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, New York Jets and USC Trojans, has a 173-134-1 record over 19 years as an NFL head coach. His 173 wins are tied with Jeff Fisher for 16th in NFL history.
**Following the firing of Pete Carroll, Raiders QB Geno Smith has unfollowed the Raiders on Instagram and removed any references of the team.
The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Jonathan Gannon after three seasons.
Gannon’s Cardinals went 15-36 over the last three years, including 3-14 in 2025-26. The Cardinals allowed the sixth-most yards this season under Gannon, who previously worked as the defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cardinals are to pick third in the 2026 NFL Draft, behind the Las Vegas Raiders (3-14) and New York Jets (3-14).
The Cleveland Browns have fired head coach Kevin Stefanski after six seasons. The team announced the move one day after finishing the 2025 season with a 5–12 record, their second straight losing year and another disappointing finish in the AFC North.
Stefanski had early success — including two playoff trips and being named NFL Coach of the Year twice — but the Browns struggled lately, especially offensively, and couldn’t stay competitive.
The Browns will now begin searching for a new head coach while keeping General Manager Andrew Berry in place to help lead that process.
