NHL: Islanders’ Johnny Boychuk Needed 90 Stitches After Taking Skate To Face

New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk needed 90 stitches after taking a skate to the face in Tuesday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.  

Boychuk was hit in the face by the skate blade of Canadiens forward Artturi Lehkonen. He then scrambled off the ice holding his face.

Boychuk needed 90 stitches from a plastic surgeon to repair the cut on his eyelid, but luckily, there is no damage to his eye.  

He’ll be out until his eye opens up and feels better.
