Nikko Calabro named GLVC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– For the second time this season, Drury’s Nikko Calabro won the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week of the award. Calabro won the league honor this week after hitting .714, with two home runs and 12 runs batted in during four games last weekend.

He won the award earlier this season on March 29.

The first baseman from St. John’s, Florida went 10 for 14 at the plate with six extra-base hits. He had a double in all four games and posted a 1.429 slugging percentage, and a .778 on-base percentage in Drury’s series against Truman State. Calabro had multi-hit performances in all four games and scored six runs. He started the weekend going 4 for 4 against the Bulldogs on Friday, then went a combined 4 for 6 at the plate in Saturday’s doubleheader.

Calabro and the Panthers return to action this weekend when they host 23rd ranked Quincy in a four-game series starting Friday at 5 pm at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
