The St. Louis Cardinals surrendered 16 hits during a 9-2 loss to the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals gave up two runs in the top of the first and trailed the rest of the way. Alec Burleson went deep in the losing effort, while Michael McGreevy suffered the loss after allowing seven runs on nine hits in four-and-two-thirds innings. St. Louis remains in fourth place in the NL Central at 54-and-53. Andre Pallante starts for the Cardinals against the Marlins tonight.
