The Cardinals managed just six hits during a 5-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium yesterday. The game was scoreless heading into the sixth inning before Carlos Santana hit an RBI double for Pittsburgh. Jordan Montgomery had a strong start but was charged with the loss after giving up two runs on six hits in six-and-a-third innings. Brendan Donovan had a pair of hits during the losing effort.
Rookie Jordan Walker’s 12-game hitting streak came to an end.
The Cardinals remain in last place in the NL Central at 5-and-8. Jordan Woodford goes for his first win when he starts against the Pirates tonight.
