The Royals put an end to their three-game losing skid. Kansas City defeated the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 at Kauffman Stadium. Adam Frazier, Vinnie Pasquantino, Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. each hit a solo homer in the victory.
Perez homered in the seventh to tie the game and then one day after Witt Jr.’s fielding miscue cost the Royals, he responded with his go-ahead homer in the eighth.
Lucas Erceg earned his seventh win and Carlos Estevez recorded his 37th save against his former team as the Royals improved to 71-and-69. They host the Minnesota Twins tonight.
The Royals will be without a member of their starting rotation for the foreseeable future. Kansas City has placed right-hander Seth Lugo on the 15-day injured list due to a lower back strain. Lugo was originally scheduled to start Thursday’s contest against the Los Angeles Angels, but was scratched on Wednesday due to back discomfort. The 35-year-old is 8-and-7 with a 4.15 ERA through 26 starts this season. Right-hander Stephen Kolek took Lugo’s spot on the roster.
