Thayer Bobcats set new records in track & field

Thayer senior Cordell Washington delivered a historic performance at the SCA meet, rewriting the record books in dominant fashion. Washington blazed to a fully automatic time of 10.59 seconds in the 100-meter dash, breaking the long-standing meet record of 10.75 set by West Plains’ Jimmy Miller back in 1998.

Washington wasn’t finished. He also soared to a height of 2.00 meters (6’7”) in the high jump, tying the SCA meet record previously held by Greg Chronister of West Plains (1987) and Cabool’s Collins (1990).

The Bobcats’ success didn’t stop there. Thayer’s 4×100-meter relay team set a new SCA meet record, clocking in at 44.12 to edge past Salem’s 2011 mark of 44.21. The record-breaking quartet of Owen Brown, Cordell Washington, Tommy Poole, and Riley White capped off an unforgettable day for the Bobcats.
