The Royals cruised to an 8-3 win over the Detroit Tigers in the series opener between AL Central rivals at Kauffman Stadium. Michael Massey was 3-for-4 with a home run and a pair of runs scored in Kansas City’s fourth straight victory. Salvador Perez also belted his team-leading ninth homer of the year, while Hunter Renfroe had two RBIs. Michael Wacha improved to 4-and-4 after allowing two runs through seven frames. Chris Stratton notched his third save as the Royals moved to 30-and-19. They host the Tigers again tonight. Right-hander Alec Marsh will start opposite Detroit righty Casey Mize.
