The 2025 Prospect League Championship Series belonged to one man: Former West Plains Zizzer Tank Sims. In a performance for the ages, Sims went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, driving in three runs with three singles and a double to help lift the Cape Catfish to a thrilling title-clinching win. His biggest moment came in the sixth inning, when a two-run single broke a tie and proved to be the game-winner as the Catfish held on to secure the championship. Sims, a rising sophomore at Southeast Missouri State, was simply unstoppable during the postseason. Over the course of the playoffs, he hit an eye-popping .571 and posted a jaw-dropping 1.457 OPS numbers that left no doubt as to who deserved the Prospect League Championship Series MVP. The young slugger might be new to Cape Girardeau, but he’s already carved out his place in the city’s baseball lore.
“It means everything,” Sims said after Thursday night’s victory. “It’s awesome. I really enjoyed this whole season, and I’m just grateful.”
The Catfish are 2025 Prospect League champions and they have Tank Sims to thank for leading the charge.
