Thayer High School Names Basketball Court Coach Matt Pitts Court

In a ceremony on Senior night Monday February 18th, the Thayer School District announced that their basketball court is now named “Coach Matt Pitts Court” per a report from Thayer Bobcats Sports on Facebook.  Coach Matt Pitts, a graduate of Thayer High School (Class of 1996) began his coaching career after college at Koshkonong High School where he spent two years before coaching at Hartville for one season.  In 2003 Matt accept an assistant coaching job at Thayer under his former head coach Cliff Hawkins.  When Hawkins stepped down in 2006 Pitts was named Head coach of the Bobcats.  In his 19 year career as Head Coach of the Bobcats Pitts has a record of 458-167, 8 SCA titles, 13 seasons of at least 20 wins, 14 district titles including 11 straight, 6 quarterfinal appearances, 4 Final Four appearances and numerous Coach of the Year awards. Pitts has made the Bobcats a force in southwest Missouri and the state.  Congratulations Coach Matt Pitts, a well-deserved honor.
