The Cardinals fell just short during a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Busch Stadium. The game was tied at one heading into the top of the seventh, but Miles Mikolas surrendered a two-run single in the inning to give Minnesota the lead for good. Tyler O’Neill brought the Cards within one with a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, but Jordan Walker and Alec Burleson struck out to end the game. Mikolas was charged with his seventh loss after allowing two earned runs and one unearned run in seven innings. St. Louis is in fifth-place in the NL Central at 47-and-61. The Cardinals send Dakota Hudson to the mound against Minnesota tonight.
