The West Plains Zizzer Boys Basketball team traveled back to Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 for their second round in The Class 5 District 1 Tournament- facing The (25-2) Sikeston Bulldogs.
1st Quarter: Tip controlled by The Sikeston Bulldogs as Zizzers play a man to man defense. First two shots are no good as ball goes back to West Plains and stolen back. First points on the night by Senior Kobe Thomas for Sikeston.
Ball goes back to West Plains on the rebound. Drive-in and a jumper good by Jared Kraft. Inside shot as West Plains takes a foul as Jaharas Goodwin shoots and scores. But a foul on Sikeston as Aiden Judd shoots two. Answered back with another bucket by Goodwin. Sikeston leads 6-2 with 5 ½ minutes to go. Jared Kraft shoots on the next foul for Sikeston at the line.
West Plains fights for the ball on the next possession as Josiah Long tries to pass to Jacob Moore. Retried and ball goes over the top of the board and this will be the fourth turnover for SIkeston.
Another turnover as Sikeston forces a foul on Josiah Long. Foul on the rebound (the second team foul) on Jaharas Goodwin for Sikeston. Rebound taken back and lost again as West Plains now has six turnovers with about a minute ½ left.
Jacob Moore with the next as he fights past two defenders for SIkeston. Sikeston nearly looses the ball on the rebound but taken back and put in by Senior Marquel Murray for The Sikeston Bulldogs.
A three by Kobe Thomas as he makes his third point. Three is tried again by Josiah Long for West Plains but nearly lost and put in for two.
Another three for Sikeston by Marquel Murray.
2nd Quarter: A questionable call as Jacob Moore hits the floor twice at the hands of Jaharas Goodwin. Sikeston played intense full court pressure. Two more fouls called however as Josiah Long misses the next three failed attempts after another previous attempt by Jared Kraft.
Ball lost and stolen back by Sikeston. But thrown back away for Sikeston’s third turnover. But taken back for a three by Murray as Sikeston jumps out to an eighteen point lead.
Finally after a stop a two pointer by Jared Kraft but taken back for three more by Senior Ben James for Sikeston.
Ethan Miller for West Plains tries a three lost. Gavin Kenslow tries a putback but lost and put back in by Marquel Murray for Sikeston.
Aiden Judd with a pass scores for West Plains as they get another quick break. West Plains gets the ball back on the rebound but a foul and a pick off by Marquel Murray to bring the lead out to 24-13 with 20 sec to go.
HALFTIME- Sikeston Bulldogs: 24/ West Plains Zizzers: 15
2nd Quarter: Right off the bat, a two pointer by Marquel Murray who picks up the rebound. Scoop shot off the pass is good by Ben James. Caleb Cobb finally scores the first three for West Plains and the rebound. Ethan Miller tries for a three but taken back by Sikeston and travels with The Basketball. Ball will go back to West Plains.
A steal and a layup is good by Kobe Thomas. Jacob Moore comes back for the ball shooting again. Ball taken back for another three by Kobe Thomas. Thomas scores again after a time out and another foul on Jacob Moore for West Plains shortly after.
Aiden Judd tries for a shot on the next possession but is blocked again.
West Plains forces a turnover with 3 ½ left to go as Caleb Cobb gets a steal and puts the ball in for two.
Sikeston continues their intense full court pressure. A foul as Jared Kraft fouls Jaharas Moore, Kraft is 4-4 on the night as he makes both free throws.
Kraft for another three but lost. Next three Sophomore Shaun Cole is good for Sikeston with 1:15 remaining. A pass taken by Kobe Thomas for two more.
A foul on the next rebound by Sikeston and Jacob Moore goes to the line, making 2-2.
Another three and an offensive rebound as Kobe Thomas’s shot falls short but Sophomore Naqueveon Allen goes to the line to shoot two. He makes both
Sikeston Bulldogs lead the West Plains Zizzers, 43-26.
4th Quarter: Kobe Thomas shoots two more three pointers plus another two pointer by Jaharus Murray. Naqueveon Allen goes to the line as Josiah Long loses the ball out of bounds as West Plains cannot get an answer. Sikeston leads by 31 points.
Finally a foul on Thomas for Sikeston, the first team foul in the half. Aiden Judd shoots two.
Josiah Long gets a steal and a jump shot on the rebound, but fouls again and goes out of the ballgame. This sends Ben James for Sikeston to the line for two. James makes eight points on the night as Sikeston leads 59-30.
Another turnover by the Zizzers. But taken back and a floater by Jacob Moore as Zizzers trail by 27 inside of 3 minutes left to go.
Another three by Kobe Thomas, 21 points on the night. Lay-in on the rebound by Jacob Moore,
Three again to make it 24 on the night by Kobe Thomas.
