What a night for Liberty Volleyball! The gym was electric, the crowd was loud, and the action on the court didn’t disappoint.
The JV squad set the tone early with a dominant performance over Cabool, taking the match in straight sets, 25-16, 25-11. The team was firing on all cylinders from the service line, combining for an impressive 16 aces.
Varsity followed up with a dramatic five-set thriller. Liberty jumped out to a 2-0 lead with back-to-back 25-23 wins, but Cabool came storming back, taking sets three and four, 22-25 and 14-25. With momentum swinging hard the other way, Liberty was staring down a potential reverse sweep—but the girls dug deep.
The fifth set was a battle, but Liberty held on for a gritty 16-14 win, sealing the match and the night.
Brinley Duckett stepped up big with 12 kills, while Kelbie Smith powered the offense with 13. Jayli Tharp was rock solid on defense, racking up 17 digs, and Jordyn Tune was the engine of the offense with 44 assists.
“To bounce back like that in the fifth set after losing all momentum—that says a lot about our heart and resilience,” said coach Tune. “We had some younger players step up in a huge way, and that was the difference.”
Next up: Liberty heads to Houston on Thursday. Let’s keep the energy rolling!
