Willow won the tip and got a quick bucket to start the game. Willow steals on the next possession but got blocked out of bounds. Willow showed dominating presence in the start of the game. Ava showed their fierceness by getting consecutive buckets. Ava easily got down the court quick completely breaking down Willow’s defense. But Willow’s offense was doing great offensively consistently scoring without pressure. The first quarter ended 13-8, with Willow having a decent lead. Willow were playing much better defensively in the 2nd quarter. Willow were going strong on a 12-0 run before a timeout was called by Ava. Ava broke the run shortly after the timeout, hopeful to try and take the lead back. Willow were playing aggressive in the game already giving Ava a bonus halfway through the 2nd quarter. The first half ended with Willow still on top with the score 30-19 going into halftime.
The second half started with Willow with the ball and immediately added to their big lead. Ava struggled to find their rhythm. They had consistently missed shots and just could not stop Willow from scoring. A very one-sided game. Willow got up to a 20-point lead nearing the end of the 3rd quarter. The 3rd quarter ended 48 – 24, with Willow seeming to walk away with the win. The final quarter started with Ava with the ball but another missed shot. But Ava was not going to give up. Ava did improve their game in the 4th quarter, they started to get more rebounds and made consecutive shots as well. They just couldn’t catch back up to Willow’s dominant lead. The final score was 57 – 37, a strong win from Willow.
Willow Bears will be back in action on Tuesday night, February 17th as they take on The Mountain Grove Panthers at home. Game time @ 7:30 PM on KUKU 100.3 Classic Country
