COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball (7-0) returns home to face SIUE (3-2) on Thursday Night at Mizzou Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will stream on SECN+ with Nate Gatter and Jordan Roundtree on the call.
The Tigers are closed out last weekend by winning the Christmas City Classic in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Mizzou took on Columbia in the opening game, winning by a score of 87-80. Hayley Frank led the way with 29 points and eight rebounds.
In the championship game of the tournament, Lauren Hansen put together a career-best performance. The junior from Long Island scored 34 points and grabbed five rebounds while shooting 9-of-14 from three. She is the first Tiger since Sophie Cunningham in 2017-18 to score at 34 or more points in a game. From the second quarter to the start of the fourth quarter, Hansen made 11-consecutive shots, including seven threes. The Tigers put up 36 points in the second quarter which is tied for the most by a Mizzou team in a single quarter since the 2015-16 season, when the NCAA implemented quarters instead of halves (3/1/19 vs. Arkansas).
Mizzou is off to its best start since the 2015-16 season when the program began the year with 13 straight wins. As a team, the Tigers are shooting 40 percent from three, which is second in the SEC.
