The Zizzer Cross Country teams are Columbia-bound for the State Championships this weekend, and the community is invited to give them a spirited send-off on Thursday, November 6, at 9 a.m.
The team will begin their send-off route with a drive by West Plains High School, followed by a stop at West Plains Elementary to greet students. From there, the caravan will make its way through Court Square, continue down Washington Avenue, turn onto Broadway, and merge onto Porter Wagoner Boulevard as they head out of town toward Columbia.
The Zizzer boys bring a rich tradition of success, claiming 14 state titles in program history — including last year’s state championship. The Zizzer girls have matched that feat with 14 state championships of their own and finished as state runners-up in 2024.
This year’s state meet will take place at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia on Friday, where both teams look to continue their proud legacy of excellence.
