(West Plains, MO) After months of waiting and repair, Zizzer Stadium has officially reopened, welcoming back student-athletes to a refreshed and ready playing surface. The turf replacement was made necessary by damage from spring flooding, but thanks to insurance coverage, the West Plains School District reports that the project came at no additional cost to the community.
Athletes wasted no time getting back to work on the new field. Zizzer Football players were among the first to break it in, and fans were recently treated to an exciting event at the Zizzer Athletic Training Facility — the Night of Champions weightlifting competition. The event gave parents and supporters a first look at the strength and progress of the 2025 Zizzer Football team.

Coach Jared Davis, strength coach for Zizzer Football, praised the effort and dedication of the athletes:
“The Zizzer Football team has put in a lot of hard work over the summer, and The Night of Champions is where they can show off the strength they’ve gained. The totals are made up of the best Squat, Bench, and Hang Clean lifts of the night. We want to thank everyone who came out to support these young men and cheered them on when some of those lifts were ‘grinders’. Strength is gained by those who put in the W.O.R.K!”
Up next, Zizzer Soccer fans will get their chance to preview the upcoming season during the Red and White Scrimmage, set for Saturday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Zizzer Stadium. Fans are encouraged to bring a case of water or sports drink and come support the 2025 Zizzer Soccer team.
The return of Zizzer Stadium marks more than just new turf — it’s a fresh start for a new season filled with strength, spirit, and community pride.
