Zizzers fall in Home Opener, 74-53 to The Ozark Tigers

The West Plains Zizzer Basketball started off their season this last Tuesday night with a home opener, playing host to the Ozark Tigers.

In this matchup the Zizzers fell short, by a Final Score of 74-53 

1st Quarter: Tip controlled by the Ozark Tigers. Low block and cut by the Ozark Tigers and the ball will be blown dead. Foul will be called on Josiah Long for The West Plains Zizzers. Both free throws for The Tigers is good. To follow a good jumper for two by Junior Kylan Pickren for Ozark. Taken back by The Zizzers and first points scored by Junior Caleb Cobb.

A foul call on Ozark and shot up and this will send Senior, Jared Kraft to the line for two free throws, he makes 1-2 to make it a 3-2 ballgame.

Zizzers play some good defense as Pickeren for Ozark tries to attack the basket but put put up and good by Josiah Long. Zizzer take a brief 4-2 lead. But a three by Pickren for Ozark sends it back to a one point ballgame, 5-4. 

A team foul on West Plains and two free throws are good by Freshman guard, Brandon Brown for The Ozark Tigers. 

A cut in by Josiah Long finally cuts it back to a one point game, 7-6. This will make the fourth turnover by The Tigers. 

Another foul on Ozark and Sophmore, Hudson Patillo shoots two free throws to allow West Plains to take the first lead of the ballgame by two, 9-7. 

Ozark tries to attack on another posession but foul again and this gives Jared Kraft to score one more free throw, not making the second.

Attacked back by Ozark and two jumpers by Junior Hendrix Haymes for Ozark. 

At the Buzzer, A three is good by Jared Kraft to make it 12-11 at the end of the First Quarter. 

2nd Quarter: Zizzers will try to keep up on the attack but The Ozark Tigers will get the first two points of the second quarter. And a foul call on West Plains, both of these points scored by Junior, Kylan Pickeren for the Tigers. 

Suddenly tigers are back to a three point lead, 16-13.

Freshman, Brandon Brown for The Tigers finds an open look and he makes two more for the Tigers. Attacked back and in by Josian Long for the Zizzers. 

Taken back by Ozark and in for three, the second field goal of the game for Ozark Freshman, Reid Vesely. 

Foul call on Ozark and two free throws are made by senior Jacob Moore for The West Plains Zizzers. 

With about three minutes to go in the ballgame, Ozark makes their seventh turnover of the ballgame as they have  a four point lead, 23-19. 

 Back to play from a time out and Junior Hymes, sends Ozark up by two more, 25-19. Taken back by the Zizzers for a three, 

Attacked back by Ozark and a three by Pickren, Score is now 26-23, Ozark. 

One more two pointer, by Pickren and teams will go to the Locker Room as Ozark has the lead, 28-23.

3rd Quarter: Right out of the gate, a three by Pickren for Ozark and the chance to shoot two free throws. Ozark will now take a nine point lead, 34-25.

Finally Ozark will receive a foul call and Jared Morre will get a chance to shoot two. Making one. 

Hudson Patillo with the next points for the Zizzers but not until Ozark scores 12 more points and challenges them to an even wider, man to man defense. West Plains simply can not defend.

Another three by Reed Vesely, and now Ozark Jumps out to a 19 point lead, 49-30. 

A three attempt by Jared Kraft is no good and once again, only 1 free throw out of two after a baseline jumper. 

Vesely with another baseline jumper and now two more. Vesely shoots another three. 

This will continue to hold the Ballgame at twenty points as the Quarter ends with the Score, Ozark: 55/ West Plains: 35.

4th Quarter: Jared Kraft continues as the leading scorer for West Plains as he has 22 Points in the game with under 9 minutes to go. So far, he has attacked the ball the most completely as Kylen Pickeren, the main defender for Ozarks continues to hold The Zizzers to as many as 33 points. 

Pickren scores two more threes in the Quarter, this holds the Tigers inside the fifteen-twenty point radius. 

Another three pointer by Jacob Moore, cuts it back down to nearly a fifteen point game. Both more and Jared Kraft get turns at the free throw line but overall, Zizzers hardly having any luck at the free throw line in tonight’s game.

Ozark Tigers continue the steady attack and win the Ballgame by a Final Score of 74-53.
