Howell County Sheriff’s Department Obtains B.A.T.T.mobile

West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Department has obtained a new Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) in the form of what is called a B.A.T.T., or Ballistic Armored Tactical Transport, with design choices seemingly taking cues from a popular man-bat-themed character.

Built from the frame of a 2012 Ford F-550, this vehicle has been outfitted with emergency lighting, sirens, and armor that can protect from even high powered rifle rounds. The materials used to upgrade the vehicle are certified to have both ballistic and blast protection from all angles.

This APC BATT was obtained through the Department of Defenses LESO program, which reduces the acquisition cost to zero. Maintenance costs are not included with the program.
