Suspect Arrested After Early Morning Pursuit and DWI Investigation

A woman was arrested early Wednesday morning following a vehicle pursuit and driving while intoxicated investigation conducted by the Howell County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 12:17 a.m., Deputy Kory Taylor observed a silver 2012 Chevrolet Impala weaving and crossing the center line multiple times on State Route 14. When Deputy Taylor initiated a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens, the driver failed to yield and continued east before turning onto County Road 4410. The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped in the driveway of a residence.

Deputies conducted a felony stop and located three occupants inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as Jillayna Wake, initially pretended to be asleep and later claimed she thought the approaching law enforcement vehicle was “the fire department.” Wake admitted to drinking earlier that night and was found to be driving on a suspended license.

She refused both field sobriety and breath tests and was taken into custody. Wake was held at the Howell County Adult Detention Center on a 24-hour hold for Resisting Arrest, Driving While Intoxicated, and Driving While Suspended. She was later released on a $10,000 bond for the felony charge of resisting arrest.

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to removing impaired drivers from the road and protecting public safety.
