Heat Advisory Continues Through Thursday

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Heat Advisory in effect through Thursday, July 25, for much of southern Missouri, including the Ozarks region.

Residents can expect persistently hot and humid conditions throughout the week, with daily highs in the mid to upper 90s. These temperatures will result in heat index values ranging from 100 to 105 degrees, with some areas off the Ozark Plateau potentially exceeding 105.

In addition to the extreme daytime heat, overnight temperatures in the 70s will offer little relief, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The National Weather Service urges the public to take precautions, stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable populations.
