(WEST PLAINS, Mo.)As the start of the new school year approaches, the City of West Plains has announced via social media that the West Plains Aquatic Center will close for the season on Sunday, August 17.
The closure comes as many of the pool’s lifeguards prepare to return to school when classes resume on Monday, August 18.

In the social media post, the city thanked the community for a great summer:
“We want to thank everyone who came out this summer and made it such a fun and memorable season! We appreciate your support and hope to see you again next year!”
The Aquatic Center is expected to reopen for the 2026 summer season.
