Royals 7, Nationals 4

The Royals began their 10-game homestand with a victory. Kansas City defeated the Washington Nationals 7-4 in the opener of a three-game series at Kauffman Stadium. Salvador Perez and Kyle Isbel each hit two-run homers in a pivotal sixth inning.

Salvy went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Isbel drove in a pair of runs. Daniel Lynch earned his fourth win despite allowing two runs through two innings of relief. Carlos Estevez notched his 30th save as the Royals improved to 59-and-60.

A pair of key members of the Royals roster are nearing a return to action. MLB.com reports that starting pitcher Cole Ragans will throw a bullpen session today as he continues to recover from a mild rotator cuff strain. The one-time All-Star is 2-and-3 with a 5.18 ERA in 10 starts this season. He has not pitched since June 5th. In other news, rookie Jac Caglianone is scheduled to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha tonight as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. Caglianone is batting .147 with five homers and 10 RBIs through 41 games.
