Willow Springs, MO — October 2025 — The Willow Springs Lions Club is proud to announce its donation of $2,500 to the Willow Springs School District Backpack Program, continuing its mission to serve and support the youth of the community.
The Backpack Program provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for local students to take home over weekends and holidays, ensuring that no child goes hungry when school meals are unavailable. The program serves dozens of families each week and relies on community donations and volunteers to sustain its operations.
“This program fills a critical need for children in our community,” said Dennis Asher, Lions Club President. “The Lions are committed to helping our local kids succeed, and making sure they have enough to eat is an important part of that commitment.”
The Willow Springs Lions Club has a long history of supporting community initiatives, including free eye screenings for children, the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Mighty Mite Football and Cheer programs, and funding for large-print books at the Willow Springs Public Library.
The Club’s ongoing support of the Backpack Program reflects its dedication to the Lions’ international motto: “We Serve.”
