On December 8, 2025, at approximately 12:31 p.m., Corporal Jacob Hamby of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on County Road 8620 in West Plains after observing a white Ford Ranger with no registration.
The driver, identified as Colby Crossley, admitted he did not have a valid license. A records check confirmed his Missouri driver’s license was suspended.
Deputy Robert Malone and K9 Spice responded to the scene. Following a K9 alert, a search of the vehicle uncovered a white crystal‑like substance hidden on the bottom of a body spray can in the truck’s toolbox. The substance field‑tested positive for methamphetamine.
Crossley was arrested and transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
