Deputy Robert Malone and K9 Spice responded to the scene. Following a K9 alert, a search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine, hydrocodone pills, a loaded .22 caliber revolver, and the AR‑15 rifle. Both firearms and narcotics were seized.

Hoevelman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon. He was transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center. Conservation officers issued a citation related to the deer.

Officials emphasize that all charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
