Chester Kinnaird, 72, passed away at home on February 4, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with a rare neurological disease. In true Chester fashion, he met every challenge with grit and determination, outliving every medical expectation and proving, once again, the remarkable strength that defined his life.
Chester was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Delbert and Hester Kinnaird. From a young age he worked beside his father, learning carpentry and construction — skills that became not only his profession, but a source of pride. He grew into a highly respected contractor known for his integrity, fairness, and exceptional craftsmanship. Those who worked with him knew they could rely on both the strength of his hands and the honesty of his word.
Beyond his work, Chester embraced life with enthusiasm. He had a deep love of racing and spent many hours helping at his family’s racetrack in the St. Louis area. His passion for classic cars never faded, and he found equal joy in the quiet peace of hunting and fishing. Whether surrounded by roaring engines or still waters, he was happiest when doing what he loved.
Above all, Chester’s greatest devotion was to his family. He is survived by his wife, Eva James Kinnaird; his three children-daughters, Felicia Hudder, 34, of Troy, Missouri, and Jocelyn Kinnaird, 6, of Plato, Missouri; and son, Wendell Kinnaird, 32, of Palmdale, California. He also leaves behind sisters, cousins, grandchildren, and many extended family members who will forever carry memories of his steady presence, his quiet humor, and his unwavering love.
Chester will be remembered as a man of extraordinary resilience — a builder not only of homes, but of a life marked by perseverance, loyalty, and heart. His strength, skill, and enduring spirit leave a legacy that will live on in all who knew and loved him.
