Superintendent Dern to Retire from Junction Hill

Press Release from Junction Hill School Board President Wes Gunter:

“The Junction Hill C-12 Board of Education would like to announce the upcoming retirement of Mr. John Dern.  Mr. Dern will retire from his position of Superintendent at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. His retirement letter was accepted at the January board meeting.

Mr. Dern became the superintendent of Junction Hill School in 2010. Under his leadership, multiple district improvements have occurred including the gymnasium expansion, the storm shelter construction, the parking lot expansion and improvement, construction of the track, and gymnasium hardwood floor installation. In addition to these major improvements, there have been many additional facility improvements.  During his time at Junction Hill he was able to maintain and improve the district’s financial stability, which allowed for these improvements and further investment in the district. Most importantly, Mr.Dern has fostered improved student-teacher relationships and encouraged a positive school atmosphere.  This has resulted in consistent high level student performance. 

 

The Junction Hill Board of Education would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Dern for his years of service and commitment to bettering Junction Hill School. Mr. Dern will be missed, and we want to wish him well in his retirement and future endeavors.”
