Douglas County authorities have arrested 44‑year‑old Amber Leigh Browning of Squires after investigators say she engaged in a sexual relationship with a teenage boy several years ago. According to a probable cause statement filed Thursday, the allegations date back to 2018 and 2019, when the victim was 15 years old.
Detective Nathan Long wrote that the case began on March 11, when a man came to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reporting concerns that Browning had been involved with the teen “approximately seven or eight years ago.” The reporting party also described past family concerns, including a prior DFS call and what he believed was an inappropriate relationship between Browning and the boy.
“He disliked the strange relationship Ms. Browning had with [the victim],” the statement reads.
During the investigation, multiple individuals told deputies they had been aware of or suspicious about the alleged relationship. One witness reported that the victim had disclosed having sex with Browning, while another said Browning had oral sex with him in a bathroom years earlier. A separate witness claimed Browning used fake social media accounts to communicate with people, including the teen.
Detectives also documented an incident in which the reporting party said he found Browning parked on a rural road with the teen, standing in the door of his truck.
When deputies contacted the now‑adult victim, he confirmed during a recorded call that he had sex with Browning multiple times when he was 15.
Browning later arrived at the sheriff’s office and agreed to speak with investigators after being read her Miranda rights. She denied all allegations. Detectives conducted a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer exam, which they say indicated deception.
“After completion of the cold call the other examiner confirmed that the chart showed Ms. Browning was being deceptive,” the report states.
Browning was placed on a 24‑hour hold on suspicion of Statutory Rape in the Second Degree and Child Molestation in the Fourth Degree. She has no prior criminal history, according to the sheriff’s office.
A warrant has been issued.
