On February 27th, 2026, the VFW Post 1828 in West Plains organized a special memorial service in honor of those who lost their lives in the conflict surrounding Operation: Desert Storm. During the event, several individuals gave accounts of experiences of the conflict, and West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff formally made a proclamation.
