According to a probable cause statement filed Tuesday, Dustin Ivan Jordan Eastland is charged with first‑degree assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. Deputies were called to the Koshkonong Snappy Mart on March 23 for a reported fight, where Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered a Taurus handgun from Eastland’s waistband.

Witnesses told investigators that Eastland and two others left the store and drove to a nearby residence. One of the individuals later reported that Eastland forced him to his knees behind the home, pushed him to the ground, and fired a round on each side of his head. Deputies interviewed multiple witnesses at the property, two of whom reported hearing gunshots.

During a later interview, Eastland admitted traveling with the group that day and described drug use and activity leading up to the incident, but gave a conflicting account of who fired the shots. The alleged victim later told deputies it was Eastland who discharged the firearm near his head.

Deputies were unable to locate physical evidence of gunfire at the scene, but the sheriff’s office requested a warrant, citing the severity of the allegations and concern that Eastland would not appear on a summons. His bond is set at $50,000.
