Arkansas – Several counties in Arkansas are currently under a burn ban, including those in our listening area.
Currently, according to the Arkansas.gov burn ban map, counties include Boone, Searcy, Fulton, Izard, and Sharp Counties. While Baxter County does not have an active burn ban, one is currently up for the town of Salesville, and the entire Arkansas listening area is under an “extreme” risk for fire.
The reasons for the ban are the sustained drought conditions that have hung over the area, with Arkansas currently dealing with worse conditions.
Residents are urged to be cautious about actions that could start fires during this time, such as dragging chains on trailers that could cause sparks, parking on dry grass, or not properly extinguishing and disposing of cigarette butts.
