On March 16, Douglas County authorities responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked on private property, ultimately leading to the arrest of a multiple felony offender.
Deputy Three-Eagles was dispatched to investigate the vehicle but was unable to locate its owner at the time. Approximately two hours later, the property owner discovered a male subject in the nearby woods carrying a .22 rifle and a skill saw. Armed for his protection, the landowner ordered the suspect off the property, at which point the individual complied and left the area.
Deputy Three-Eagles returned to the scene and seized the firearm and skill saw, later determining that both had been stolen from a neighboring property. The original complainants then contacted Sheriff Chris Degase, who was able to identify the suspect and pinpoint his residence just north of Ava City Limits.
Sheriff Degase, accompanied by Deputy Three-Eagles, Deputy Wilson, and Ava Police Department Officer Johnson, proceeded to the suspect’s home, where they located and arrested 39-year-old Christopher Redding of Ava. During the arrest, officers discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Redding’s possession.
Following the arrest, Sheriff Degase obtained an arrest warrant, and Redding was formally charged with multiple offenses. Bond for Redding was set at $25,000 cash only. Authorities confirmed that he is a multiple felony offender.
