From the Mountain Grove Fire Department:
As many have heard, at approximately 06:00 this morning the department was dispatched for smoke coming from the OMTC building. Upon arrival the command reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the second story. Mutual Aid from Cabool Fire Department, Norwood Community Volunteer Fire Department was requested as well as Houston Ladder. Command directed an entry team to make entry to locate and attack fire. Once the entry team made their way to the second floor they were able to locate the fire and begin their fire attack.

A ventilation crew was also sent to the roof to begin roof ventilation to assist with getting heat and smoke out.
Once fire contained the operation switched over to salvage and overhaul work.
Parts of the classrooms were significantly damaged and the rest on the second floor suffered heavy smoke damage. The State Fire Marshalls Office later arrived on scene to begin an investigation which is normal in any commercial fire. Working with command and the entry team the Fire Marshall was able to do his full investigation and completed it.
As we returned to the firehouse and cleaning gear, 2 brush fires were dispatched and a medical all at the same time. Having a full crew the department was able to respond to all 3 calls successfully.
From 6 to 11 we had a total of 5 calls and all where answered and responded to in a timely manner.
We want to thank all the responding fire departments, Intercounty Electric, The natural gas company, MGPD & Wright County Sheriff’s offices, TCMH EMS, for their response to the scene. Also to McDonald’s for feeding some hungry firefighters.
Stay tuned to the schools Facebook page for future announcements on when school will reopen for classes.
